FOUNDATION CME/SVR
Considering using Tandem's RSC?
Need to eliminate problems using RSC?
Want to save thousands of dollars in license
and annual maintenance fees?
Many Tandem customers use RSC (Remote Server Call) to connect their applications to HP's non-stop computer systems(Tandem); however, the RSC libraries for Windows vary depending the version of Windows, leading to compatibility and application interface issues. The host functionality of RSC for these environments also differs and in some cases even requires purchasing additional transport software.
If you are using or plan to use RSC and you have a mixed Windows environment now or plan to upgrade to new versions of Windows as they come out in the future, you are going to be faced with this problem. The only option in the past had been to convert your client software (again) and in some cases your host components and license yet another RSC version and purchase additional transport software.
Better Alternative
Menlo's new component to Foundation TME: CME/SVR
This communication management component incorporates RSC in such a way that your application can use RSC consistently - even if your end users are using mixed Windows environments. Foundation's CME/SVR means you can write your application so that it will run on all Windows environments, using a single RSC version. Using Foundation's CME/SVR could easily save you thousands of dollars in RSC license and annual fees. Better yet, it simplifies development.
Better Architecture
Foundation TME's CME/SVR provides an OLE server and DLL components to eliminate the problems of mixed RSC versions and releases. CME/SVR provides an architecture that reduces exposure and impact of changes in communication technology, while allowing you to take advantage of the latest and greatest technology advances.
CME/SVR is easy to use, install and, if you are using RSC now, it is easily integrated into your present applications.
