FOUNDATION Gateway™

Powerful Middleware

Gateway collaborates with TP Monitors (see illustration near bottom) to connect networked based client applications with remote services more efficiently. Gateway provides a rich set of system management and enterprise application services.

Communication Interface

Gateway "listens" for network connection requests, establishes and terminates communication sessions, and routes those session's transactions. Gateway provides operations with tools to validate the network connection, examine session statistics, and abort troublesome sessions.

Application components are isolated from underlying communication protocols making it easy to adopt new communications technology without jeopardizing application integrity.

System Management Services

Gateway helps operations tune the enterprise application environment, and identify and resolve operational bottlenecks - without impacting production applications. Gateway collects, provides, and gives operations control over System Management information pertaining to specific end user sessions, as well as general performance and utilization statistics. Summary information, for example, includes data on all threads (i.e. sessions), most recent errors, and general diagnostic statistics. Statistics collection is turned on and off at will. Operations can also reset statistics at any time.

Enterprise Services

Gateway, in addition to its own functions, supports Foundation's API to access enterprise services on behalf of clients:

> on line HELP

> code validation and translation

> application transaction security and navigation services.

Those Foundation APIs can readily be adapted to interface with customer provided enterprise services.

The Gateway Environment

Foundation Gateway runs as part of your Dxx or Gxx level NSK operating environments. Any Client application can interface with Gateway using Gateway's simple, straightforward API. Client developers who already use Foundation's client-based CME product can take advantage of Gateway automatically, and customers using KSC™ can also have a smooth transition to Gateway.

Frequently Asked Questions:

Do I need RSC?

No, you do not need RSC. Foundation Gateway provides the only middleware product you need and has the options to support secure transactions, firewall security, and other essential transaction functions. Gateway does all of this at a significant cost savings with faster performance and simpler implementation.

What if I am using RSC™?

Then checkout Menlo's CME/Svr product. It will enhance your RSC environment, cut your license fees, and eliminate many of the problems you may currently be experiencing. Furthermore, you don't have to purchase other products.

What platforms can I use?

You can use Unix, Windows, Linux, MacOS, and other hosts. Foundation Gateway runs on NSK and communicates with all of the above platforms.
